jimi, just dipped in quickly to the CST bb, and I'm pretty sure that Jaknife and forfiater are the same. He said "heh, sniffer" in one of his posts. Who else uses "heh"? I suspected he worked for the mm's before, and now I'm sure. When the bashers start coming on to the thread is the time to buy.

--------------

heh, get a life you moron!
Your all the same, sad and extremely pathetic,
If any of you sad rampers bothered to check you'd see that it was never me who started this feud in the 1st place It was YOU LOT!,
And just because I said I was planning to go short on this monkey.
Anyway, thats all water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned,
and you lot can all take a running jump!
Sad to say I'm actually glad this share has tanked just to see you lot suffer as opposed to pulling off a successful short.
Why dont you forget your 'company stats' and 'fundamentals' for a moment and just accept the fact that this share was 'pumped and dumped' to high heaven coz in case you didnt notice this share has dived 18% in one day!
The only hope some of you may have is that you've actually learned your lesson (even if you dont admit it) for next time.
LOL

FWIW Agincourt, I don't know who "forfiater" is. However, as always, I am more than happy to confirm that I do not use concurrent multiple aliases. I am thus certainly not posting under the username forfiater.

I believe that I have made my view clear that I consider the use of concurrent multiple aliases an act of deception.

Jmill

I think PRM on its own says it all

Believe it or not on a six month trend PRM is still above DTC

However, looks better on a three month

what we really need is a four month chart, which i dont have access too. Four months is late December when PRM was suggested !!!

From four months ago the performance gap is HUGE, as you can see from the top chart !!!

As for ROS .......... :-(

Important Notice

The latest legal bills have been distributed to each member.

However, several members email addresses are no longer allowing the receipt of Action Group emails. The delivery return notice states that the email handler has been instructed to block emails from the Group Coordinators

Your legal account is seriously overdue and you could compromise your ability to receive compensation when we win. We have warned you. Don't come crying to us that you want to settle your legal bill after the event. You will be refused because you decided to ignore all our warnings.

Two members in particular are singled out because they have persistantly ignored all requests to pay their share of the legal fees. They are:

backpacker
and
deb81e

It was noted by many Action Group members that backpacker was celebrating winning a great deal of money on the horses at Cheltenham. Yet he was unwilling to settle the legal fees he had agreed to pay.

Please be aware, Action Group members will start following you around the boards (where you are regular posters) to inform other people that you welch on your agreements and are dishonorable.

This is your last chance to pay up before the Court hearings. After these, you will be excluded from any settlement negotiations. Which would be a pity, because with the number of shares you hold, it means you would be refusing many thousands of pounds.

The Action Group is trying to set a precedent that will protect Small Investors. If you can not be trusted to pay your bills, then why should other small investors trust or even talk to you?

Please contact the coordinator to find out how much you owe the Group.

it's very obscure.... not really a fair one, cos its not actually part of the copyrighted lyrics, it was just thrown in during the middle of a concert and left on the album.

Quaff - 4 May'04 - 15:22 - 3573 of 3739
hey vh, are you a connoissuer of '70's rock or just showing your age, like me :) who would you say were the best rock band of the late 60's 70's.

Dont' anyone say zep, brilliant live crap albums.

vanhalen - 4 May'04 - 15:35 - 3574 of 3739
Hang on ....... i think this one is on the tip of my tongue. But if it is "Slade", then no good ..... i hated the band. But cant help thinking that alarm bells should be ringing.

Late 60's early 70's ....... would have to be, krikey .... so many to choose.
But my Desert Island Group of this period would have to be "The Rolling Stones" ....... man !!!

Quaff - 4 May'04 - 15:42 - 3575 of 3739
:) yep from the album Slade Alive, they were a great live band. I saw then loads of time in concert because they just toured endlessly.

Mine would have to be Pink floyd (my teenage kids love them).....no! maybe the moody blues(the magnificent 7), or maybe even yes. your right so many to choose from.

Never really a big stones fan cos I never saw them live.

As a United fan who actually goes to the games and lives in Trafford and not an armchair supporter from the Deep South, believe me when I say its deserved. Unlike last season when you gave it to us. But this has not been an unsuccessful season for me. I had Leeds to go down at 13/2 and I have United to win at least 1 cup this season at Evens. Im looking forward to next season already but first England 9/1 each way and France at 4/11 for Euro 2004. Any team who goes the season without loosing deserves the championship even if you lot had to resort to blatant cheating at OT. But im not bitter.!!!!!

Yes I echo the congrats to the gooners. Quite an astonishing season. This time they didn't lose the championship, by their defence falling apart at the last minute. It was consistantly well played. They are the best team in the country........ for the moment..... (and sometimes the dirtiest).

Oh by the way, this weekend, I saw the replacment for Henri. He's a twelve-year old striker, plays for his County. His team just won the local schools championship - with no losses. He supports Arsenal and his name is Jordan. Even his school teachers are certain he'll play pro. And on top of all that he's really nice kid. He's the best friend of my nephew. What's funny is that my nephew is a top tennis player and his mate is the top footballer. A bit like Henman and Beckham growing up together at the same school as best buddies!

God help United if Jordan starts playing for Arsenal.

i confess this is nothing but sour grapes of course..having ALWAYS detested Arsenal for reasons lost in my distant youth...but i cant quite understand why NOT LOSING is such an important thing ?!?...frankly if someone went the whole season and drew every game it wouldnt mean much would it?..and they might even go down!..........so, hats off to Arsenal for winning the league, they have been the best team and played great footy at times..but lets not pretend that NOT LOSING is anywhere near as important, OR fun to watch, as winning games...now, if someone wins the title AND wins every game, that WOULD be something special..

Cash shell companies storm back into business (SUNDAY TELEGRAPH)
(Filed: 02/05/2004)

They've been beyond the pale since the dotcom bust but shells are suddenly all the rage and queueing to float. Richard Fletcher and Grant Ringshaw report

To those outside the Square Mile the concept must seem bizarre: companies with a stock market quote but no actual operating business that are worth millions of pounds.

But in the coming weeks a string of these businesses, known as cash shells, will float on Aim, the lightly regulated stock market.

They include companies such as Urban Dining, a shell company backed by John Metcalf, the Pizza Express founder, that is looking to acquire restaurant chains. Then there's Alltrue Investments, which hopes to buy financial services businesses including small stockbrokers and boutique investment banks.

Another is Aurum Mining, which believes gold mines in the former Soviet Union are undervalued.

They are the latest in a wave of shell companies which have floated in recent months. And they are all hoping to zoom like Roshni Investments. It is looking to invest in the telecoms sector and has seen its shares soar by 310 per cent since it was listed in March, despite not having made a single acquisition.

Shell companies are not a new phenomenon, just one that's back in fashion. They were often the skeleton of a failed business, valuable mainly because they provided a shortcut to a stock exchange listing. A real business looking for a stock market quote could bypass the costly and time-consuming process of floating and simply buy the shell - a process known as a reverse takeover.

In some cases there was the added benefit of a pile of cash already in the shell, as well as unutilised tax losses.

At the height of the dotcom boom, cash shells were all the rage, as fledgling companies with little more than an idea rushed to the stock market. Back then a string of entrepreneurs - including Mike Edelson, the Manchester United director, and Nigel Robertson, the Monaco-based entrepreneur - recognised there was a tidy sum to be made.

They exploited the Aim listing rules, which - unlike those of the main Stock Exchange market - do not oblige member companies to have a trading history.

By the end of that boom, Robertson had added to his estimated £50m fortune and Edelson had been dubbed the "Shellmeister" after bringing a string of shells to the market - including Knutsford, which soared by more than 1,000 per cent before crashing back to earth.

But Robertson now concedes that the structure of the Aim-listed cash shells was the brainchild of Andrew Regan, the colourful entrepreneur best known for his controversial, but unsuccessful, attempt to buy the Co-op.

It was Chris Akers, a former City analyst and a friend of Regan, who bought Charriol - one of the first Aim-listed cash shells - to the market in October 1998. Within months Charriol bought Virtual Internet, whose business was registering company names on the internet.

In recent months Robertson has brought a string of new shell companies to the market. He is the chairman of Roshni Investments, in which he owns a 60 per cent stake, and Reflexion Cosmetics, a shell company which hopes to build an international cosmetics business.

He is also an investor in Aurum Mining, the cash shell that is looking to invest in gold mines in the former Soviet Union.

"The City is an intimidating place for entrepreneurs. They get a lot of comfort from using a shell. We hold their hand," says Robertson.

Leo Knifton, the chairman of Alltrue and a City veteran, argues that the renewed interest in cash shells has been driven by the "pick-up in stock markets over the past 15 months" and an increase in trading in smaller company shares by fund managers.

Edelson has also been cashing in on the rising demand, bringing a number of shells to the market in recent months, including Enition, Felix and Nadlan. But, unlike at the peak of the dotcom boom, these days investors in Edelson's shells know exactly what the shell company is planning to acquire before they invest.

Metcalf also believes that it is important that investors know what they are getting involved in. "There is an institutional appetite for a clear proposition with the proper management team," he says.

Last week Simon Fry, the former head of Nomura's international markets division, reversed his Hong Kong-based investment banking business into Skiddaw Capital, another cash shell.

So why did such an experienced financier opt to reverse into a shell? "Going for a new listing can be slow and onerous. It was a way of getting a listing easily and quickly in a clean vehicle," he says.

Cash shells are back with a vengeance. But as those who invested in Knutsford - which soared from 2p to 270p before crashing back to earth - know too well, they are not a one-way bet.

Still don't like B'berg but did manage to run your "QSRC", which suggested Alumasc, Lincat and Sirdar within some relatively tight filters - will take a peek at their accounts when I get time and may yet become a B'berg convert.

I assume that those people who are expecting a dividend in the short-term are the same people who believe that they can make good investment decisions wihout doing any research whatsoever.Simply reading the last set of accounts, the interims here:
http://www.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200306060700420025M.htmlprovides the following:-----------------------------------------DividendIn accordance with the restrictions imposed upon us as a result of the extension to our revolving credit facility in November 2002, the Board has concluded that no interim dividend will be payable. The terms of the new financing contain a similar restriction which will make it unlikely that a dividend will be paid for the duration of the facilities. -----------------------------------------The "facilities" expire in 2006 and so management have very clearly explained that it is unlikely that a dividend will be paid until after 2006.

Interesting piece in tonight's Evening Standard and something I have been suspecting for quite some time with RTD and many other small shares.....I agree with Andrew Hilton 100%......bastards...anyone else got a view..?

Hedge funds' market spoiler
Anthony Hilton, Evening Standard
11 May 2004

EASYJET'S shares plunged 30% last week when the company warned that, in common with other low-cost airlines, it was having a tough time. Nokia shares fell 30% the week before for similar reasons.

Something very serious is happening here. What these movements underline is how hedge funds have come to dominate the activity of the London Stock Exchange and trading in the big international blue-chips. The City pressures companies to promise growth as a precondition for taking an interest in the shares. When a company fails to live up to the promises it has been pressured into giving, it is savagely punished.

The hedge funds know there is money to be made by selling the stock short at the slightest whiff of disappointment They have the money and the power through their close relationships with investment banks like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to deal in huge volume.

So 110m shares changed hands in the hours after easyJet's gloomy announcement, according to chief executive Ray Webster. That is more than 50% of the free float of the company because 42% of the 360m shares in issue are still held by founder Stelios Haji Ioannou and his family. Activity on that scale is out of all proportion to the nature of the profit warning and the change in easyJet's prospects. It shows how distortion, manipulation and the use of overwhelming force have become endemic in the market.

Some commentators have said Webster is wrong to complain about this treatment, but he is surely not alone in thinking that this is not how stock markets were meant to work. The stock market is where people with an interest in backing companies meet people who need capital to develop their businesses. That is its reason for existence. Hedge funds and the prime brokerage activities of investment banks are turning the place into a casino where genuine long-term investors and companies are overwhelmed by their superior financial resources.

If this continues, the stock market is stripped of its usefulness and becomes of as much value to society as a high-stakes poker game. Already the market is no place for an individual investor. Increasingly, however, it is no place for professional institutional fund managers either. It is not just a question of the chaos caused by excessive volatility.

Institutional investors do not get access to the fine terms and choice deals brokers reserve for the hedge funds. They lack the technology and access to deal on the finest terms. They no longer get first sight of the choicest deals. On the contrary, they suspect every deal they do is likely to have a hedge fund or two riding on its back. Some institutions have even started offering higher commissions to brokers in the hope of encouraging more favourable treatment. It underlines how worried they are at being treated like secondclass investment citizens.

The City spends a lot of time considering plans to reward executives with shares. The premise is that the growth in the share price will be a reflection of the medium-term success of management in growing the business. Hedge funds and prime brokers are destroying the nature of that premise, and if they continue unchecked they will destroy popular support for the stock market itself. Meanwhile they simply devastate the morale of managements who see share price movements that bear no connection to the work they are actually putting in to a business

jakass - 11 May'04 - 21:00 - 3654 of 3739
jmills - regarding the above. My view is simply that I do not know!
The simplest solution for investors who's share are going against them for no apparent reason, is to blame the shorters, the hedge funds. Sometimes it may be true, sometimes not. I don't know how big the problem ( if it is a problem) is in the UK market, simply because I do not have enough information to make a judgement.
One related item is that I cannot see why we are not told whether a trade is a buy or a sell, Why cannot the LSE aid transparency in the market by publishing each trade as a buy or a sell - without us having to guess at all those trades going through at midprice - or delayed trades which we have no possibility of categorising. Or does the LSE still favour the the square mile, and consider private investors as oik outsiders?
But back to the point,
perhaps trades which are made on "borrowed" shares should have to be marked accordingly - with a big "B" beside them.
No doubt others will have their views.
